Athena Infonomics is incredibly honored to announce that we are part of an Itad-led consortium that will be working on USAID's Equitable AI Challenge.
The Equitable AI Challenge, which aims to source innovative approaches to prevent and respond to gender inequity in artificial intelligence (AI), could not come at a more crucial time: as the use of AI in international development becomes more prevalent, there is a risk that embedded gender bias in the design and end-use of tools will generate inequitable outcomes.
Athena Infonomics, in partnership with Itad, PIT Policy Lab, and Women in Digital Transformation, will work with USAID and Digital Frontiers to test AI tools being used in low- and middle-income countries (such as the IBM AI Fairness 360 tool) to understand bias in these datasets and provide proven toolkits to address challenges.
