On October 3 and 4, 2023, Athena Infonomics joined fellow WASH experts at the ESAWAS Regulators Association's 2nd Africa Water Supply and Sanitation Regulators Conference in Munyonyo, Uganda.
Eunice Namirembe spoke with Allan Nkurunziza of the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) during "Enhancing Urban Sanitation Regulation: Lessons from Kampala, Uganda," a session focused on the regulatory mechanisms deployed by KCCA to improve onsite sanitation service delivery, including a well-defined institutional framework, public-private partnerships, regular compliance monitoring and inspection, and enforcement.
The following day, Annabella Nyakaisiki joined Christopher Tumusiime of Uganda's Water Utility Regulation Department and others during "Developing a Tariff Policy for Emerging Utilities: Experiences from Uganda," a session that will bring professionals together to consider water tariff policy that can cater to both on-grid and off-grid water and sanitation systems.
