On 11th July 2017, The Global Steering Group for Impact Investment (GSG) and the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) Announced three impact entreprenuers at the GSG Millenial Honors in Chicago. Of these three, Athena's Co-Founder and Director, Vijay Bhalaki, was honored as an awardee. Judges reviewed more than 60 applicants below age 30 whose businesses provide social impact while producing positive revenue.
GSG Millennial Honors Judge and Executive Director of ANDE, Randall Kempner, stated his enthusiasm for the honors program, "ANDE is pleased to be a part of this program to showcase small and growing business (SGBs) led by the next generation of innovators. We know that SGBs drive prosperity in developing markets and it's important to showcase leaders using small business to achieve positive impact in the world."
Vijay, along with the other awardees, were flown to Chicago to participate in the GSG Global Impact Summit where they received their award from Sir Ronald Cohen, chairman of the GSG. Sir Ronald noted, "The GSG is delighted to recognize the work of these three young impact leaders. They are part of a new generation of entrepreneurs who understand that impact can drive profitability and does not necessarily impair it. By doing good and doing well at the same time, they are driving an impact revolution globally."
