The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has been investing in data-driven solutions to improve sanitation services for underserved communities. However, despite generating valuable insights, these fragmented data systems were not effectively used to guide investments or manage services.
To address this, Athena Infonomics collaborated with KCCA — supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation — to develop a Single Source-of-Truth Dashboard. This centralized platform integrates over 12 datasets from multiple departments, combining live and manually updated data for a comprehensive view of sanitation trends. Built through a participatory process with a dedicated steering committee, the dashboard enhances data accessibility, performance tracking, and decision-making.
Now fully operational, this cost-effective and user-friendly tool enables city officials to streamline operations, allocate resources efficiently, and make evidence-based policy decisions — ensuring improved sanitation management for Kampala’s growing population.
