Dhamo S. Dhamotharan, Ph.D., P.E. serves as Athena Infonomics' Executive Advisor, providing guidance to leadership on global strategy and growth. Prior to his work with Athena, he served as Group Chief Executive and was a member of the Executive Committee at AECOM—the publicly traded, international engineering, environmental, consulting, and construction management company with more than 90,000 employees worldwide. Before his retirement at the end of 2019, Dhamo spent 40 years with AECOM and its predecessor companies.
During his long tenure, Dhamo served in multiple executive roles, overseeing large projects in management, operations, strategy, and business/client development. In his final role at AECOM, he was responsible for the management of global Enterprise Client Accounts, working directly with senior executives and CEOs of Fortune 500 companies. Dhamo has visited more than 80 countries in various capacities. From 2001 to 2019, he was responsible for establishing and managing Advatech, a joint venture between AECOM and the Japan-based multinational organisation MHI overseeing sulphur reductions in power plants, valued at $3 billion. He also originated and managed the AECOM Tata companies teaming venture from 2005 to 2019.
Before joining AECOM, Dhamo worked for the state government of Tamil Nadu, India for six years, and as a Research Fellow at the University of Minnesota for two years.
Dhamo currently serves on the Dean's Advisory Board for the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota, as well as the Board of the children's education nonprofit Pratham. He has served as Secretary of the American Water Resources Association, Chairman of the Interstate Natural Association of America (INGAA) in 2008, and was a member of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Board from 2015 to 2019.
Dhamo has a Ph.D. in Civil/Water Resources from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor's and Master's degree from the University of Madras, India. He is a registered engineer in multiple states throughout the U.S. In 2005, he was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award by the University of Minnesota—the highest distinguished award for the University's alumni.
