Raj Anand's professional interests include the rule of law, democratic institutions, social impact, and policy making. Prior to joining Athena, Raj applied these interests while working with a variety of organisations, including KPMG, Trayas Foundation, and such prominent advocates as the Solicitor-General of India.

Raj holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Lucknow and a Bachelor of Laws from the Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi.
