Athena Infonomics hosted a National Conference on 'Governance of Public Private Partnerships in Urban Infrastructure' on 23rd March 2015 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. This conference was conducted in association with the Ministry of Urban Development and National Institute of Urban Affairs. The event was a part of a research programme wherein we have evaluated the factors that lead to positive or negative outcomes from PPP contracts in water supply and waste management sectors. The aim of the exercise was to understand what state/central/ local governments can do to ensure financial viability and performance over the project lifecycle. The outcome of our research programme is being launched as a report at this event; which would further feed into the larger goals of the government in developing 100 smart cities. The study, commissioned by the British High Commission, New Delhi and undertaken in collaboration with IIT-Madras, examines successful implementation of PPPs that have been administered on a set of ongoing projects across a number of states.
